RollingStone Advert

Masthead
The masthead of the magazine ‘Rollingstone’ is partially blocked by the central image which portrays how powerful and known the magazine is as they do not show the whole title of the magazine and the audience recognise the magazine.
Image
The central image is of the famous hip-hop artist ‘Lil Wayne’. He is presented to be facing straight at the camera with a gesture of his hands on his belt buckle. Firstly, the amount of tattoos presented on his body could maybe portray to the audience that he is very dangerous as most stereotypical people would argue to say most criminals have a whole load of tattoos. Also the way that he is gestured could also connote the amount of power and danger he brings as he is posing very confident towards the camera. Which is very stereotypical about this picture is the use of his trousers being very low that you can even see his boxers which could imply to a stereotypical person that he is a thug or criminal as most thugs are portrayed in this way. Lastly, the use of platinum diamonds on his wrist connotes to the audience that he is very rich as he can afford such high price accessories.
Design
The design of the magazine is very basic and ordinary with the uses of putting sidelines on the side and the central image in the middle and a big bold title. However, what I pointed out before is the use of not showing all of their title which connotes how powerful and known they are as they don’t have to include their whole name in their title. Also the use of making their sidelines in big bold letters to grab the audience attention to look at what they are advertising is a very clever and effective idea, also the use of using the same colours red and black.
Sell Lines
There use of sell lines are very simple but clever at the same time as they make it big and bold so they make sure the audience don’t miss out on anything that they have produced on the front cover. Also the likes of famous artist’s as ‘Jimmy Carter’ and ‘Steven Tyler’ implies how powerful their magazine is as they even have more known and dangerous music artists then Lil Wayne and that goes to show that they are a very strong brand.
Audience
The audience is obviously attracted to music fans as it has all the mise en scene and iconography for a music genre. The uses of Lil Wayne to the other music artist Jimmy Carter portrays to the audience that this is directly targeted to a music audience. Also the title ‘Rolling stones’ connotes a rock band or somewhere in the music genre.
Representation
‘Rollingstones’ is represented to be a very strong brand towards magazines in the music genre or even in a whole of all the genres in the media world. The unique way of covering up there masthead and still be recognised connotes to us how known and powerful this magazine is. Also, the amount of powerful celebrities they have on their magazine implies how recommended there magazine is as they have powerful people on it. Also which emphasizes how strong their magazine is that it is so basic yet so powerful and unique for consumers to recommend it.
