Fish Tank Review

The film Fish Tank is a British movie directed and written by the author of the book 'Fish Tank' Andrea Arnold. It is based on a 15  year old girl called Mia who have a very big fond for dancing and become a professional, but has a down side as she has no motivation to become what she wants to be.Mia gets hurt by motly every character in the movie but ends up loving the boy she lost her virginity too.

Katie Jarvis (Mia) and Michael Fassbender (Connor). Mia is a very badminded child getting kicked out of school and living in a ruff estate, she has no friends, and has no positive relationship with mother in any way. She takes her stress away by going to a abonded apartment where she practises her dancing. you
also see that she is a good dancer throughout the movie.

as you can see that she has been kicked out of school but she meets her mums new boyfriend 'Connor' he becomes a father like figure to her and he supports her throughout the movie, however this soon becomes to a stand still  as soon as Mia and Connor kiss, he then leaves Mia's mother to go back to his real family, when Mia finds out she is angry and kidnaps hisyoung daughter.. She tries to win a dancing competition but finds out the tcompetition are for strippers not street dancers. she then decides to leave the competition as it is not suitable to her needs, where later she starts getting her life back on track and the film finishes her. she then decides to herself that where she lives is not right for her and decides to get back with her ex boyfriend and move to wales where she hopes to start a fresh brand new life and gain the happiness she wants to succeed in life and not turn out like her mother.

The soundtrack of this movie is very weird but basic due to the use of dancing and brings out all the aspects of it; a lot of contrapuntal music being played, its very effective as it shows how different the music is due to the scene kind of contrasting with how Mia is different with her family.

I think the movie is more aimed at young kids aiming to become something and not laying back as it gives them the oppurtunity to show how life is a struggle and you need to be determined and hardworking if you want to get to the top. In my opinion, i think the film would be an 7/10 but its a good movie to motivate people to be more determined and life as oppurtunities come once in a life time and you got to work for it as many people are very unlucky to get a chance

Media Award 'PaperMan' Analysis

I think overall the  Paperman trailer was used in a very unique way from the uses of low-key lighting, non and diegetic sounds, iconography of horror, mise en scene of horror and other uses of elements of media terminology make this trailer to be at a very high standard and make it win best media production of the media wards 2012.

Firstly, the uses of lighting was used to a good effect to make the audience almost feel as if their being introduced to a horror film. the key elements of low-key lighting upon the murderer and characters face built suspense as the audience wanted to know who they were but also be curious to find out about it. this also connoted to the audience that this was in fact a horror film as they love to make the film dark and spoky so that it can build up the tension of the audience.

Secondly, the uses of non diegetic and diegetic sounds were used to a very high standard as it portrayed the suspense but also connoted to the audience that this film was indeed a horror. from the uses of non diegetic sounds being used from the loud opera music to build the suspense towards the scene but also the uses of lighting to make it feel like everything was just too dangerous to handle. also the uses of diegetic sounds of the damsel in distress screaming making the audience be frightened of the danger that is about to come but also the explosions and slashing to the knife to make the audience almost as feel as if their there and gain that suspense needed to frighten the audience.

Thirdly, the uses of iconography for horror were used in the scenes to portray to the audience that was in fact watching a horror film due to the signs being used to show them that their being introduced to a horror. for instance the use of a knife with blood and massacre portrayed to us that it was indeed a horror as thats one of its most recognizable uses when coming to a horror film which portrayed to us that this film was indeed a horror film.

Also the mise en scene was used to a very high standard as the audience gained a sense that indeed this film was horror from the uses of a haunted house, a broke down factory, props such as a mask and a knife but also the uses of horror in the mise en scene to bring that typical use of horror and style to frighten the audience but also bring that huge suspense
