Ill Manors Parts Of Analysis

Album Cover
The narrative is presented to be urban, the uses if him smoking a cigarette on the street yet his posture his displayed to be so relaxed and comfortable portrays he is used to the street life implying the hip hop and urban culture he displays. Also he is presented to be not a caring type but to be so calm and casual when being in a frightening environment connotes that he lives for the streets. The uses of his hoodie and cigarette almost displays the iconography of the urban and hip hop genre as that is mostly how they are stereotypically seen to be. Also the title is integrated into the setting connoting it is integral al ILL and we expect the songs to be about this.
Film Poster
The narrative is presented to be about the struggle of the estate life from the quotation ' we are all products of our environment..some are just harder to survive in' this portrays to the audience that the life of estate is a struggle to survive in and connotes to the audience how broken Britain is really becoming. The use of the character having a gun in his hand portrays the iconography of violence and action due to a gun being such a powerful weapon and would lead to events such as murder or robbery. The use of dark clouds shadowing over the state connotes the amount of violence and terror the state brings and also shows people that they know they are going to a dangerous place if they was to enter. The genre is presented to be an action/thriller as the uses of guns and dark clouds portrays to the audience the amount of terror and violence will be brought into the film.

BBC Three is a television network from the BBC broadcasting via digital cable, terrestrial, ITV and satellite platforms. The channels target audience includes those in 16-34 year old age group, and has the purpose of providing innovative content to younger audiences, by focusing on new talent and new technologies. The channel is on-air from 19:00 to around 05:00 each night.BBC Three was launched by Stuart Murphy, who previously ran BBC Choice.Targeting an audience of 16-34 year olds, BBC three has to compete with there rivals in order such as ITV2 and E4, for an audience that the BBC has traditionally had difficulty in attracting. On average nine million people watch BBC Three every week.

BBC Three's programming consists of comedy, drama, spin-off series, which would attract many audiences as they may have missed out a show and want to catch up upon it later during the day and other programmes that attempt to alert others of their actions through a series of programmes challenging common beliefs.

Pre-watershed shows are held before 9pm, which are shows which have no swearing, nudity and this would be beneficial for the young viewers.
However, these shows change everyday, there isn't a fixed timing for some of these shows as on some days snog marry or avoid is shown at 21.00, which shows there is no fixed timing, suggesting audiences won't be aware of what time to expect a programme to be on, however this could also be a positive outcome as young audiences flick through the channels and don't usually stick to one, also having films shown on some days would attract them even more, especially on the weekend as that is when they want to relax.

BBC three has many different shows at different timings, there are suitable shows that we could look at for our teen drama, which are pre-watershed as we could get information and new techniques which may help us with our drama, also the target audience for bbc three ranges from 16-34 years, but we need to aim ours at young teenagers, so we could research more about the young teenager shows in order to help us

My Objective For This Week..

Narrative of the story and basics
My group's idea is about a 16 year old teenager called Mathew AKA looney, who lives in an estate with his mum,who acts different with his family and different in front of his friends. The opening scene is of him getting ready to go to school. He goes to a private school, whilst he is getting ready, he is listening to rap/hip hop music. He hears his mum walking up the stairs, so he quickly changes it to the news. His mum walks in and tells him to hurry up and get downstairs. She walks back downstairs and he switches the TV off and grabs his bag and goes downstairs. He has his breakfast and then says to his mum that he is leaving. He walks out the door, and as soon as he slams the door behind him, hip hop music starts (non-diegetic). The music starts and he walks around the corner of his estate, and opens a box, and finds his clothes. He gets changed into a black tracksuit, and his image completely changes. He starts bopping towards his bike, and gets on it and rides off. He then goes to meet his friends Jemz and Scrapz. His friends are the stereotypical hood boys, they are wearing track suits, hats, smoking. They start a conversation and his friends give him a bag and he goes to make a deal with one of their clients, and then a police car rolls up next to them. His friends then push him of his bike, and run off. The police grab Mathew and floor him and check the bag. They put hand cuffs around his wrists and tell him he is under arrest.
We are going to be filming in an estate called SmithFarm. We are using this estate, so it enforces the stereotypical views and it will go well with the genre of our work. We will be filming at this location throughout the entire scenes.

Video Analysis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Inn4y2XHf6w

The video we had filmed and edited had a range of different edits and lighting to make the concept as high quality as possible. for instance, i used the 180 rule when the characters were in conversation, the reason being is that i wanted to show the full aspect of the scene and environment when the characters spoke so the audience could feel the suspense in tension in the scene but also shots as the 'over head shoulder' and straight line added a bit more depth in the quality to make the scene look more efficient and accurate.

Another good point, is that the use of POV in the corridor was a very good effect to make the audience feel engaged in the scene but also make them feel as if they are in it due the uses of first person makes them see from the characters perspective and see how it is in their footsteps which creates a huge tension in the scene to make it better.

Adding on from this point, the use of low key lighting on the other character when turning around to introduce himself, creates a atmosphere of tension and suspense as the the use of the low key lighting creating a shadow on his face makes the audience more eager and excited to see who the character is making the audience more involved and excited about the scene.

Response For Test EBI

The use of the director breaking the '180 rule'put a big effect and suspense on the environment as the use of cutting the 180 rule connoted to the audience that the director wanted to show all the senses of environment in different ways possible to show the amount of tension being built up in the scene to make the tense that the director was making the audience automatically feel and gain. Secondly the use of panning on the main governor in the scene brought the audience to feel the tension of the governor and how that moment felt with him as the use of the panning all on him connotes to the audience he plays important part but also shows the emotion and suspense he feels when being apart of this scene.
